I hope everyone who reads the tale of a young lady desperate to find out who her family is. I've read so much about 21st entury people abandoned or given up for adoption, who need to find out who their parents are.

I've been re-reading L. M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. This snippet about the layer cake Anne made amused me. "I'm sure I haven't forgotten anything this time, Mirella. But do you think it will rise? Just suppose perhaps that baking powder isn't any good.  I used it out of the new can.
